At most US colleges and universities, LGBT student and alumni organizations are a standard fixture, contributing to the diversity and rich social fabric that are essential parts of the higher education experience. However, you won't find LGBT student groups at the US service academies. Because of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, gay and lesbian cadets, midshipmen and officer graduates are required to remain secretive and underground about this important aspect of who they are.
The participants of Blue Alliance believe that the enforced silence of gay and lesbian Air Force cadets and officers, resulting from the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, is incompatible with the Cadet Honor Code and the Air Force Core Value of Integrity First. But we optimistically believe the Academy and the Air Force have the capacity as institutions to grow beyond this issue.
We are joining together to support the development of our alma matter, the Air Force, and ourselves. Please consider offering your encouragement, your ideas, and your contributions to this important effort.
